Fotoromanzo
Create your Fotoromanzo. Invent a story, a title and a plot. Create characters and assign them roles.
Every genre is accepted, from thrillers to crime to love stories, science fiction, etc.
Sketches will help you during the creative process. Use a notebook.
Remember that the purpose of this assignment is to reinvent the Fotoromanzo, while maintaining the aesthetic imprint of the same. We do not want to re-propose the stereotypes typical of the Fotoromanzo – like gender stereotypes – but overturn them, fight them, reinvent them.
1.
Make a cover of your Fotoromanzo that includes the title of the series, the title of the episode, one or more photographs and other relevant graphics.
2.
Create a double page using the language, graphics and photographic imprint typical of the Fotoromanzo.
A double page in which only a part of the story that you invented is revealed. Obviously you have to combine the photographs you took previously with the related texts and dialogues. Make the photographs keeping in mind the unfolding of the plot and how to return it in images. Use your sketches and make all the photographs necessary for someone else’s understanding of the unfolding of that part of the story. You need to tie the images (of any size and orientation) together in a space-time sequence. Faces, characters, dialogues, details, general views, etc.
You can work outside and/or in interiors. Black and white or color. You may need a small flash or few lights
during the shooting phases. You can also decide to work with natural light.
You may need props, clothes and make-up depending on the nature of the story that you invented.
Get help from friends or other helpful people. Convince them of the extraordinary nature of your purpose.
3. (optional)
Finish the episode of your Fotoromanzo, print it and sell it. Make posters and stick them around.
The wait for the next episode of your series is already winding around the city.
